Captive bred: No
Uroplatus are a hardy species and relatively easy to care for in captivity as long as their specific needs are met. They require a terrarium with a high humidity level of 60-90% and a temperature range of 75-80F. They are primarily insectivores and should be fed a diet of crickets, mealworms and other appropriately-sized live insects. They can also be fed with fruit paste as a treat occasionally. They are a shy and elusive species, so they should be handled carefully and not too often. They are also nocturnal animals, so they might be more active at night, making them a great addition to a collection of nocturnal reptiles. They are fascinating and entertaining to watch and a great conversation starter.
Even though our animals arrive in excellent shape, like other pets in your household, a fecal test is suggested to check for possible parasites. These are not always present, and this practice should be part of the routine for any keeper. A fecal test should be run on any reptile collection, WC or CB every year.
